Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is included in the rental package?
A. At Philly Formals and Mr. T's Tuxedos & Menswear we don't lure you in with a ridiculously low priced advertisement to then find out you actually have to pay 3 to 4 times what was on the sign on the window. We have 4 package pricing levels that all include Coat, Pants, Vest, Tie, Shirt, Shoes and Pocket Square. If an item is not needed we can adjust the price on certain packages.
Q. When should the tuxedos for a wedding be picked out?
A. We know that you want to take care of everything on your checklist so you can make arrangements as early as you like. However, 4-6 weeks before the wedding date is recommended. Earlier if the wedding is in April, May and June.
Q. Are there any discounts offered to the bridal party?
A. Although Philly Formals and Mr. T's Tuxedos & Menswear offers pricing that is competitive with any tuxedo provider, from time to time we have FREE groom tuxedos available for certain rental packages. Please ask at fitting for details. We also have discount rental packages that will fit any budget and there is always a very aggressive promotion every January and February. That is a great time to book your wedding with us!
Q. What sizes are available for tuxedos?
A. Sizes range from 3 Boys to 70 Mens. Portly, Athletic Cut and now Slim / Trim Fit styles are also available.
Q. What should out-of-town groomsmen do?
A. Please refer to the Out of Town Groomsmen Link on the menu
Q. When can the tuxedos be picked up and returned?
A. We make every effort to get you the tuxedo as soon as we can to ensure proper fit. Tuxedos usually arrive in store 5-9 days prior to your event. If you would like we can arrange a final fitting but we know with hectic schedules you may just want to grab it and take it home to try it on. It is your preference. TUXEDOS NEED TO BE RETURNED BY THE MONDAY AFTER THE EVENT. If your event is local, arrangements can be made to pick up your tuxedo for a small convenience charge.
Q. What if the tuxedo doesn't fit?
A. To be perfectly honest with trying not to sound arrogant it doesn't happen a lot. But again, you will have the opportunity to try the tuxedo on 5-9 days prior to the event. If we need any adjustments we can get a better fitting size in a day or two before your event. We also have expert tailors at our disposal for last minute fixes.
Q. Should the ring-bearer wear the same tuxedo as the groom or the groomsmen?
A. This is also personal preference. Traditionally the ring-bearer would wear the same tuxedo as the groom if the flower girl's dress is similar to the bride. If the flower girl's dress is not similar to the bride many times the ring-bearer would match the groomsmen.
Q. Should all of the groomsmen wear the same patent leather shoes?
A. Our rental packages include patent leather shoes to encourage a uniform look.
Q. What is appropriate if the bride's gown is ivory?
A. If the bride's gown is ivory then usually the men in the wedding party wear ivory shirts. Also, we have many ivory color vest options for the groom to match the bride's gown that will look great together.
